Nepal extends coronavirus lockdown till June 2

Kathmandu (Nepal), May 18 (ANI): Nepal on Sunday extended the coronavirus lockdown by two weeks till June 2. Spokesperson for Nepal government, YubaRaj Khatiwada, announced extension of coronavirus lockdown as one of the decisions which was made after the cabinet meeting. The decision was taken during the high-level coordination committee for the prevention and control of COVID-19 under the convenorship of country’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrael. During the lockdown, the Nepali government suspended ground and air transport, shut down most shops and industries while relaxing it for certain industries and service sectors, particularly related to essential food items, medical items and construction sectors. The decision comes after Nepal reported its first two deaths from the deadly virus.
