Uzbekistan's president approves foreign minister candidacy

Tashkent [Uzbekistan], September 10: Vladimir Norov has been approved as the Foreign Affairs Minister of Uzbekistan in accordance with the presidential decree, the Uzbek president's press service said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, the country's parliament approved Norov, who has been acting foreign minister since April this year, for the minister's post.
Norov, 67, previously served as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the Benelux countries, and was the head of Uzbekistan's mission to the EU and NATO. In 2006-2010 he headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also worked as the secretary general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
