Qatar, Saudi Arabia aim to boost trade, logistics cooperation

Doha [Qatar], July 27: Minister of State for Foreign Trade HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed held a high-level virtual meeting with senior Saudi officials to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade and logistics, with a focus on facilitating trade flows, enhancing customs coordination and improving logistics efficiency.
The videoconference brought together Dr Rumaih bin Mohammed Al Rumaih, vice minister of transport and logistic services of Saudi Arabia; Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Abduljabbar, acting governor of the general authority for foreign trade; and Musa bin Ahmed Al Barqi, deputy minister for logistics services at the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services.
The meeting was also attended by Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, chairman of Qatar's General Authority of Customs; Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Ibrahim Al-Maadeed, undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport; HRH Prince Saad bin Mansour bin Saad bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Qatar; Bandar bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, ambassador of Qatar to Saudi Arabia, along with a number of senior officials from both countries.
The discussions reflected the shared commitment of Qatar and Saudi Arabia to deepen coordination and expand cooperation in the areas of foreign trade, transport and logistics. The officials reviewed a range of issues of mutual interest, placing particular emphasis on facilitating the movement of goods, streamlining customs procedures, improving the efficiency of logistics services and creating a more seamless trade environment.
The meeting also explored ways to increase bilateral trade by enhancing connectivity and strengthening institutional cooperation between the relevant authorities in both countries.
