Myanmar reports 48 new COVID-19 cases

Yangon [Myanmar], August 21: Myanmar confirmed 48 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 614,621, according to the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
The ministry said in a statement that these cases included 18 infected people who returned from abroad.
The statement added that the health authorities tested 7,515 people for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate was 0.64 percent.
The death toll from COVID-19 remained unchanged at 19,437 as no new deaths were confirmed in the past 24 hours, the ministry said.
The total number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in the country reached 593,215, including 30 new recoveries in the past 24 hours.
The Southeast Asian country detected its first COVID-19 cases in March 2020.
