Massive protests erupt against dams in PoK

Jul 30, 2019

Muzaffarabad, PoK JULY 30, 2019: - Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir against the Neelum-Jhelum power project, which has rendered thousands of them homeless. People chanted slogans against Islamabad saying that they do not accept the project which was there in place to serve the interests of other provinces, especially Punjab…….and not the people who have a prerogative over the water of the river. They also carried floats asking the Prime Minister of the region to fulfill the promises he had made to the people before the dam became functional. Local leaders say that the exploitative nexus of Pakistan and China has been using different means to accomplish its designs in the region. They, however, vowed not to give in to any pressure created by Islamabad.
